REFUGE MINISTRIES CHURCH HISTORYJames 4:8 (part A) declares, “Draw nigh unto God and He will draw nigh unto you.” As we continue to serve under the leadership of God, it is our heartfelt desire that above all, we experience an even closer encounter with God. Being called to the Gospel Ministry in 1988, Bishop Vincent Jesse Jones began Pastoring in 1992. Birthed out of his Pastorate, God gave him the vision of Refuge Ministries in January, 1995. This ministry focused on helping Pastors and Ministers with the inception of new and growing ministries and providing a covering from the challenges of ministry. Refuge Ministries continues to provide support for Pastors and Leaders through Leadership workshops, Counseling and “How To” training manuals. In June 2006, God expanded the Vision by giving Bishop Jones another flock to Oversee. Bishop and Pastor Victoria Jones began holding services on Tuesday, June 21, 2006 at North Cobb High School. These services became an experience where people of God could come together to focus on God and God alone. As we focused our attention on God, God began to move in wondrous ways within our church family. God began to answer prayers beyond belief. God, Himself began to make Impossibilities- Possibilities. He began to say, “Yes and Amen” where man had said, “No.” But this was just the beginning as God sought to pour more of himself into Refuge Ministries by leading Bishop and Pastor Jones to Pastor Wright and The Church of God of Prophecy in Acworth, GA. This relationship created an opportunity for Refuge Ministries to begin Sunday Morning, 7:30am Sacrifice Services in September, 2006. In February 2008, we were able to begin services at 8:30am as well as continuing Tuesday night 7:30pm services. In April of 2010, (Easter Sunday) we were blessed to move into our current location at 2714 Valley Hill Drive in Acworth where we believe that we will be able to do greater things through God's grace. Our current Sunday Service time is now 10:00am. Intercessory Prayer begains at 9:30am. The Refuge Ministry family has been blessed to experience and witness the promises of God and we continue to trust Him as a faithful, true and living God. We are so thankful for what God has done in the lives of His people during these first years of service and we look forward to what God has planned for us in the coming years. But as it is written, “Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered in the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.” Psalms 46:1-3 declares that, “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore, will not we fear, though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea: though the waters of thereof roar and be troubled, though the mountains shake with the swelling thereof…” As a church family, we are blessed to be able to STILL say that …GOD IS OUR REFUGE- |
